John L Scott Real Estate Technology

Lennox Scott has done a lot to advance Real Estate technology in Seattle. In my opinion he has been at the fore front of web based Real Estate searches and promotional products. We have a lot of internet Real Estate business models here, but the combination of offices with internet search has been a challenge.

Office placement has been one of those things that some companies have struggled with. John L Scott has a long history in the best neighborhoods around the city. It was kind of disconcerting that the long established offices were like fixtures in some parts of the city. That was in a time when Lennox, I imagine, was working on getting internet searches more popular. All that changed in about 2005 when there was a burst of new looks and offices for John L Scott.

Lennox also surrounded himself with bright forward thinking Real Estate people. Of all the Real Estate companies in this area John L Scott is the most tech savvy, hands down. Now it’s an investment that will need to pay off. It’s a difficult market place to compete in. Venture capital poured into on line brokerage, but as near as I can figure Lennox paid for his technology as he went. In my opinion it is the most workable of all the internet models.

First, the search function of the web site is fast, concise, and innovative. Then the best part is that you can ask for the help of an actual in office agent. The internet concept of lead generation is seamless with the John L Scott Brokerage. In another post I will talk about on line Brokerages and what I see as the draw backs. What you should know as a buyer or seller is that the search functions, the broad internet presence, help you whether you use the brokerage or not.

It was a generous endeavor, no matter what the return. We all benefit.

About David Losh

In 1984 I got my Real Estate license and worked in a small company called Advance Properties. The owner was extremely interested in Real Estate, building, and land development. Most of his work was concentrated North of Seattle. Since the 1970s I had worked for Real Estate agents in Seattle as a contractor, mostly preparing properties for rent, and sale. After a few years my skill level increased considerably concerning land use, building code, and development practices. Escrow, and lending offices were housed at the Advance Properties building so it was easy to get involved in all aspects of Real Estate. It was very much a family owned, and operated business. Over the years my Real Estate license has been at a variety of Real Estate companies, and offices. Nothing compares to those early years, or that sense of family. Real Estate has gotten to be corporate owned. My hope with this blog is to share with you some of the things I've learned. If you have Real Estate needs, or want contractor help, I refer freely to what best suits you. If you should choose to work with me you'll find a great resource. My Real Estate license is at Skyline Properties in Northgate. Skyline is a locally owned company that is a desk fee office. There is a wide variety of diverse agents. It helps me with some of the other projects that I have, and mentoring that I do, to be able to work with people from other cultures. Here in Seattle we are close to Vancouver BC and are the gateway to China. Boeing has a great trade relationship with China, as does Microsoft have with all of Asia. We are a culturally diverse community, and it helps me to be invlolved.
