Ann Babb-Nordling

This site was inspired many years ago by Jim Stacey who made Buyer’s Agency a cause here in Seattle. This domain name was the direct opposite to www.SellingSeattle.com which was owned, at the time, by another agent I know.

The idea Jim Stacey was promoting is that people needed to know they could rely on him to work in their best interest when buying a property. At the time the sellers were the only one’s who had a contract to pay a Real Estate commission.

Chuck Cady, who was new to the business about the same time, was also smart enough to agree that as a listing agent it was hard to turn around, and represent buyers. Ann Babb-Nordling was working with Chuck, and they agreed she should work with the buyers while he concentrated on listing properties.

Ann, ultimately, inspired this site. She was the first person I asked when I converted this site to Word Press. Since the mid 1980s she has consistently represented buyers in a wide variety of transactions.

Other business models have come, and gone over the past twenty years, and this idea of Buyer Representation continues to be a controversy. Through all of the debate Ann Babb-Nordling has become the very best of that skill set.

About David Losh

In 1984 I got my Real Estate license and worked in a small company called Advance Properties. The owner was extremely interested in Real Estate, building, and land development. Most of his work was concentrated North of Seattle. Since the 1970s I had worked for Real Estate agents in Seattle as a contractor, mostly preparing properties for rent, and sale. After a few years my skill level increased considerably concerning land use, building code, and development practices. Escrow, and lending offices were housed at the Advance Properties building so it was easy to get involved in all aspects of Real Estate. It was very much a family owned, and operated business. Over the years my Real Estate license has been at a variety of Real Estate companies, and offices. Nothing compares to those early years, or that sense of family. Real Estate has gotten to be corporate owned. My hope with this blog is to share with you some of the things I've learned. If you have Real Estate needs, or want contractor help, I refer freely to what best suits you. If you should choose to work with me you'll find a great resource. My Real Estate license is at Skyline Properties in Northgate. Skyline is a locally owned company that is a desk fee office. There is a wide variety of diverse agents. It helps me with some of the other projects that I have, and mentoring that I do, to be able to work with people from other cultures. Here in Seattle we are close to Vancouver BC and are the gateway to China. Boeing has a great trade relationship with China, as does Microsoft have with all of Asia. We are a culturally diverse community, and it helps me to be invlolved.

Fun and interesting to Google your own name and find references that you had never heard of. This old buyer’s agent of the ’80′s and so on is happily retired, due to a tolerant wife and ten dogs that tell me they love me (but it is always when it’s feeding time, so I am not sure I can trust them). Now in North Carolina where they should enter the twentieth century any day now. You guys in Seattle should be overjoyed that your market has held up so well. We own five houses here where they are cheap to buy but impossible to sell, which is keeping us from returning to the more enlightened West. Best wishes, Jim
